History

In 2022, Acme celebrated its 90th anniversary. The company was founded in 1932 in Chicago by William Walters.  Four generations of the Walters family worked in the business and grew the company through their commitment to providing excellent customer service and by investing in cutting edge coating equipment. In 2015, Stacker Holdings, a Chicago-based private equity firm invested in Acme, though members of the Walters remain owners today.  Stacker shares the Walters family’s commitment to providing customers with high quality coatings and great customer service and is also committed to helping Acme’s employees achieve their personal, professional, and financial goals.

Over the past five years, Acme has invested substantially in plant improvements including the addition of a new chain on edge production line, conversion of two unused loading docks into additional functional storage space, and investment in equipment to support a new metal tube cutting operation.
